Tasmania's wild places are internationally renowned for their scenic, ecological and wilderness values. Yet many of these areas remain partly or wholly unprotected and under threat from logging, mining, wind-farms, road construction, off-road driving or inappropriate tourism development. Endangered is a celebration of these vulnerable wild places. It is also a call to action to ensure that these areas are given the national-park status they deserve - places like the spectacular Tarkine coast in the state's northwest, the rainforests of the Blue Tier, and the towering eucalypt forests of the Styx, Weld, Picton and Huon valleys. The future of these last wild places will be decided within the next decade - either by bulldozers, or by political initiative driven by public appreciation of what stands to be destroyed.
